AES, PCW or RCF: Choosing the Right High-Temperature Fiber

Selecting the right fiber material is an important part of high-temperature insulation design. Different operating temperatures, furnace atmospheres and application conditions may require different fiber solutions.

GK manufactures three major types of high-temperature fibers: AES soluble fiber, PCW alumina fiber and RCF ceramic fiber.

AES soluble fiber is widely used in applications where high-temperature insulation performance and material handling considerations are important. It can be supplied in different forms, including bulk fiber, blankets, boards and other fabricated products.

RCF ceramic fiber is a widely used insulation material for industrial furnaces, kilns, heat treatment equipment and other thermal systems. Its low thermal conductivity and lightweight structure make it suitable for a broad range of high-temperature applications.

PCW alumina fiber is designed for more demanding thermal environments where higher temperature resistance and thermal stability are required. It can be used in specialized industrial applications involving severe operating conditions.

However, choosing a fiber should not be based on temperature alone. Density, thickness, thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, furnace atmosphere and installation method should also be considered.

GK provides application-based recommendations to help customers select suitable materials and product forms. Our fibers can be manufactured into blankets, boards, papers, modules, textiles and vacuum-formed shapes to match different furnace designs and insulation systems.

The right material combined with the right product form can provide a more reliable and efficient high-temperature insulation solution.
